AC Two Tier: These air-conditioned coaches have sleeping berths across eight bays. Berths are usually arranged in two tiers in bays of six, four across the width of the coach and two berths longways on the other side of the corridor, with curtains along the gangway or corridor.
1A berths are slightly bigger than the berths in 2A, but 2A berths are big enough, and I’ve not noticed much difference in comfort levels. Where 1A wins, is when there are 2 of you travelling together and you’re given a coupe, or if there are 4 traveling and you’re all put in the same cabin.
2S Second Seating Non AC Second seater: 2S Second Seating, lowest class where the seats are in form of benches may or may not be with cushion. CC means AC chair car, usually preffered for short distances & is commonly found in Shatabdi trains.
2S – Seater class: same as AC Chair car, but with bench style seats and without the air-conditioning. 108 seats per coach and not very comfortable. Suitable for short travels. CC – AC chair car: An air-conditioned seater coach with a total of five seats in a row used for day travel between cities.
Service Hours: Booking through Internet is allowed from 00:20 AM to 11:45 PM (Indian Standard Time) on all days including Sundays.
