High-Definition Multimedia Interface
HDMI inputs are found on digital TVs and many home theater receivers. These inputs are designed to accept one end of an HDMI cable, through which audio and video are digitally transferred from the HDMI outputs of devices, such as Blu-ray players, game consoles and A/V receivers.
HDMI cables transmit digital video and digital audio signals between devices. They support standard-definition, high-definition and Ultra HD video signals – plus all uncompressed and compressed stereo and surround sound audio formats.
High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) is an uncompressed, all-digital audio/video interface. HDMI provides an interface between any audio/video source, such as a set-top box, DVD player, or A/V receiver, and an audio and/or video monitor, such as a digital television, over a single cable.
Most laptops built over the last Half-decade have an HDMI port (which stands for “High-Definition Multimedia Interface”). The HDMI port looks like a longer and thinner version of the USB port that you’ve probably used for flash drives, printers, and other devices.
Can HDMI on a laptop be used as Input? No, there is no way to use laptop HDMI as Input directly. All the laptops are coming with VGA or HDMI ports, but both are output ports, and you cannot use them as Input.
It is not possible to directly change an HDMI output to input. This is because the circuitry is designed in that way but we can use external adapters which could take in HDMI input from an external device and then project it on another device through USB ports or other ports.
Right-click the “Volume” icon on the Windows taskbar, select “Sounds” and choose the “Playback” tab. Click the “Digital Output Device (HDMI)” option and click “Apply” to turn on the audio and video functions for the HDMI port.
To do that, open the Windows 10 Display Settings (search in the taskbar) and click on Projecting to this PC. If the feature is supported, you’ll be able to choose “Always On” from the drop-down menu. You’ll need to enable this setting on both your PC and laptop.
Do Your Phone and Your TV Work with the Micro USB to HDMI Adapter. Generally, a MHL adapter can work to connect only when both your phone and your TV support MHL. Currently, lots of the high-end brands of Android smartphones and tablets are compatible with MHL.
Just go on with the following 4 steps, you can do it at once.
You simply connect the HDMI switch’s output port to your TV via an HDMI cable, and then connect up to three other HDMI devices into the switch. This means it will in essence grant you an extra two ports, since you’re still using one of the TV’s ports to connect it all up.
Smart TVs have an operating system and more connectivity options. Smart TVs have WiFi, HDMI, USB, Bluetooth and maybe Ethernet LAN ports. That means you can hook them up to the internet and other devices such as smartphone, tablet or Laptop.
