The Button – Dealer (also classed as a LP) In terms of advantage it is the best position in poker. After the flop the dealer always gets to act last in every round of betting for that game.
Poker Positions 101: Names, Seats and Characteristics
The term Under the Gun (UTG) is typically used in poker to indicate the player who is seated directly to the left of the player in the big blind.
Assuming the table as a whole is acceptable, you ideally want the seat to the left of the tricky, loose, and aggressive players. You want the advantage of seeing how they will act before you decide to enter the pot, and before you decide how you will play your hand.
What is Hijack in Poker? The hijack is the position two to the right of the button (to the direct right of the cutoff). It is not considered a stealing seat like button and cutoff, but it does occasionally get opportunities to enter the pot with a slightly wider range of holdings.
In poker, the nut hand is the strongest possible hand in a given situation. The term applies mostly to community card poker games where the individual holding the strongest possible hand, with the given board of community cards, is capable of knowing that they have the nut hand.
In a home poker game or at most online poker sites, checking the nuts is fine. But, if you are in a live tournament, be careful as other players will call you out if you do it. Even some of the best in the business have done it on occasion, though, so don’t let it get you down too much if it ever happens to you.
An inside straight draw, or gutshot draw or belly buster draw, is a hand with four of the five cards needed for a straight, but missing one in the middle. For example, 9-x-7-6-5. An inside straight draw has four outs (four cards to fill the missing internal rank).
Bad Beat – Refers to losing a hand of poker after getting unlucky. Often the money goes in as a favourite and our opponent “sucks out”. Bankroll – Refers to the total amount of funds a player has at his disposal for the purpose of playing poker.
turn card
A call involves matching the amount already bet in order to see the next card (or to see the showdown, if the last card dealt was the river card). However, if you particularly like your hand you may also raise, forcing the original bettor to match your raise if he wants to continue in the hand.
The “small blind” is placed by the player to the left of the dealer button and the “big blind” is then posted by the next player to the left. The one exception is when there are only two players (a “heads-up” game), when the player on the button is the small blind, and the other player is the big blind.
If the pot is unraised when the action arrives he may either check, and remain in the pot for the flop, or raise. If everyone else folds before the flop, including the small blind, then the big blind not only wins his blind bet back, but also collects the small blind’s initial bet.
Prior to the flop, the player to the left of the big blind will bet first. After the flop the player to the left of the button will be the first to act. You are in a weaker position when you are the first to act because one or many of the other players can raise you.
The cards are ranked (from high to low) Ace, King, Queen, Jack, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, Ace. (Ace can be high or low, but is usually high). There are four suits (spades, hearts, diamonds and clubs); however, no suit is higher than another. All poker hands contain five cards, the highest hand wins.
1 Answer. Aces may indeed be used as low in a straight in holdem. A2345 is the lowest possible straight, also sometimes called a “wheel.” In any other context, aces will be ranked higher than other cards.

In Poker, the Ace is the highest card and the 2 card (Deuce) is the lowest. However, the Ace can also be used as a low card, with the value of 1.
However there are several card games and variants that allow non-standard straights. In Big Two the highest rank card is the 2; therefore the largest straight is J-Q-K-A-2, while the smallest straight is 3-4-5-6-7.
A flush is any hand with five cards of the same suit. If two or more players hold a flush, the flush with the highest card wins. If more than one player has the same strength high card, then the strength of the second highest card held wins. This continues through the five highest cards in the player’s hands.
The cards are ranked thus, from low to high: 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, Jack, Queen, King, Ace. An ace is the highest card, but it can also function as the lowest in completing a straight. The two is usually called a “deuce”, and the three is sometimes called a “trey”.
I am agent of chaos.” The Joker’s goal is to show that this sense of justice that the Batman introduced to Gotham is absurd, and the Joker’s goal is simply to destroy this belief in the hearts of the people. We, the people of Gotham and the viewers alike, like to believe we are morally upright.
