The Internet has many places to ask questions about anything imaginable and find past answers on almost everything.
What does it mean when an employer says they will call you back, but don’t? Or when they say the hiring manager and such will reach out to you, but you wait and it doesn’t happen? It usually means polite rejection so it’s nothing to do but move on. If they do it once, it’s not a big surprise.
The hiring manager may find it difficult to justify the company’s about-turn and the time and effort he and you have sunk into the process. So, the recruiter may simply stop calling you or give you a standard response when you try to follow up.
What steps can you take if the recruiter doesn’t call on time?

The Amazon interview process can be grueling. However, the good news is that it’s fairly consistent. Because we know the structure of the interview beforehand, it makes it much easier to prepare and minimizes surprises.

When to Ask for Feedback After a Job Rejection When you receive a rejection via a phone call, it’s best to request feedback during the call itself, while you still have the recruiter on the line. In the case of a voicemail rejection, ask for feedback within a day of receiving the voicemail.

Hiring managers do not want to repost jobs. Hiring managers do not take the decision to repost lightly. Reposting means starting all over at square one. After going through the hiring process only to not select someone, the hiring manager is tired and frustrated.
Some recruiters may wait and collect resumes for a few weeks or a month before looking them over. Some may start glancing through resumes as soon as they come in. Even if the job has been open for a month or so, it may be worth it to apply to a job posting if you are a strong candidate and highly qualified.
